Würzburger Hofbräu Takes over the Organisation and Management of the Kiliani Marquee

Würzburg, January 30, 2009: Würzburger Hofbräu has been selected by Würzburg city council from a large number of applicants to be solely responsible in the future for the organisation and management of the Kiliani marquee. Together with a renowned “Festwirt” (≈ patron), Hofbräu intends to make the Kiliani marquee a crowd puller at the Kiliani Folk Festival with a range of innovations. These include a new marquee, special theme days and an attractive music programme.

The Kiliani Folk Festival and Würzburger Hofbräu have always belonged together. For over 75 years the premium brewery in the region has been supplying the famous Kiliani Festival Beer to the marquee, as well as advocating not only the maintenance of long-standing traditions, but also the cautious introduction of innovations to the Kiliani Folk Festival. Now the brewery is taking over even more responsibilities and will be acting from this year on not only as a supplier of beer and equipment, but also as the sole main organiser and manager of the Kiliani marquee.

“A good atmosphere is guaranteed in the Kiliani marquee!”

In an initial statement the Managing Director of Würzburger Hofbräu, Hans Haug, is very satisfied with the award of the contract:  “We are very pleased that the city council has decided in favour our of our concept for management of the Kiliani marquee and would like to express our appreciation to the city for the confidence placed in us.” He now intends to more than justify the decision with a renowned “Festwirt”. He stated that the central components of the management concept were the redesign of the marquee, special theme days for all generations and an attractive music programme. This would include not only well-known bands to put the audience in the right mood, but also many regional music associations. Further special events such as the successful beauty contest from last year are again under discussion. There is also a plan to stage the traditional Kiliani boxing again. Hans Haug did not wish to disclose any more than that, although in all respects the brewery’s motto of “Enjoyment under a Lucky Star” will be consistently implemented. Visitors to the Kiliani Folk Festival, which will be held this year from July 3 to 19, can therefore already start looking forward to the Würzburger Hofbräu Festival Beer brewed specifically for Kiliani, as well as the good atmosphere in the Kiliani marquee.

Welcome to the Kiliani Marquee 2009!
